What Our Clients Say

What Is Lacrosse Ball Training?

This treatment utilizes a small, solid rubber tool to perform targeted myofascial release and deep tissue pressure application. Originally designed for field sports, these specific tools feature a two-point, five-inch diameter and a five-ounce weight, making them the perfect size and density for pinpointing deep muscle layers.

The process is straightforward yet deeply effective:

  • Targeted Application: A small handheld device is placed directly over the area experiencing discomfort.
  • Photon Pressure: The dense rubber transmits focused energy deep into the muscle layers and joints.
  • Cellular Tension Release: This direct application ensures that the targeted cells release accumulated stress.
  • Biological Response: It triggers a cascade of natural biological events that reduce swelling and lower pain signals.

When you apply your body weight against the firm, non-stick rubber surface, it simulates a deep tissue massage. This action breaks up tight bands of tissue, improves local circulation, and coaxes tight muscles to relax. It is a highly versatile setup perfect for athletes, gym-goers, and office workers alike.

How Do We Integrate This Tool Into Your Care?

We do not just hand you a tool and send you on your way; instead, our team builds a comprehensive strategy around your specific movement boundaries. During your visits in London, Ontario, our practitioners assess your posture, joint range, and areas of localized tightness. We then teach you precise placement techniques, correct body positioning, and safety protocols to ensure optimal pressure. Our goal is to give you a sustainable self-care routine that complements your clinical therapy sessions perfectly.

Our care model focuses on several distinct pillars:

  • Customized Assessment: Identifying your exact trigger points and muscular restrictions
  • Guided Techniques: Teaching you how to safely roll, compress, and release target zones without causing bruising.
  • Routine Integration: Blending these exercises seamlessly into your existing home fitness or recovery plan.

Why Choose Tandem Physiotherapy & Wellness?

Choosing our clinic means choosing a partner dedicated to your long-term physical freedom. We focus on modern, evidence-backed physical therapies that yield real, measurable progress. Our team stays fully aligned with your personal health objectives, ensuring every session feels supportive and productive. To help you see how we stand apart, here is what you can expect when you partner with us:
What Tandem Provides Standard Self-Care Approaches
Proper Guidance on exact tissue pressure to prevent bruising. Guesswork that might worsen inflammation or ignore root causes.
High-Density Tools made of solid rubber for optimal tissue depth. Soft tennis balls that collapse under significant body weight.
Comprehensive Plans that combine active movement with release work. Temporary fixes that fail to address overall movement patterns.

Which Conditions Benefit From Trigger Point Release?

This targeted pressure approach is incredibly beneficial for a wide array of physical complaints stemming from repetitive strain or structural imbalances. If you have been struggling with a persistent physical issue that prevents you from enjoying your favorite activities, it is worth discussing whether this option fits your situation.

We routinely utilize this technology to address a wide range of issues:

  • Plantar Fasciitis: Rolling the arches of the feet helps release intense tension in the bottom of the foot.
  • Gluteal and Piriformis Tightness: Deep pressure addresses hip restriction common in runners and office workers.
  • Upper Back and Scapular Knots: Relieves the stubborn burning sensations between the shoulder blades from desk work.
  • Pectoral Tightness: Opens up the chest area to counter the forward-slumping posture caused by driving or typing.
  • IT Band and Quadriceps Soreness: Eases side-thigh restriction and enhances knee tracking for active individuals.

What Are The Primary Benefits Of This Training?

The beauty of this method lies in its elegant simplicity and profound impact on muscle physiology. By dedicating just a few minutes a day to these guided movements, you unlock a variety of physical advantages.

Key benefits include:

  • Enhanced Muscle Performance: Releasing restrictions allows muscles to contract and expand to their full capacity.
  • Accelerated Workout Recovery: Flushing out metabolic waste products helps tissues bounce back faster after heavy training.
  • Cost-Effective Relief: Provides a durable, lifetime tool for deep tissue management between clinical visits.
  • Improved Flexibility: Consistently breaking up fascial restrictions increases your overall range of motion.

Lacrosse Ball Training London, Ontario FAQs

Yes, it is entirely adaptable. Our practitioners start you with gentle wall-rolling techniques to control the pressure before moving to floor-based exercises. This step-by-step approach ensures you remain comfortable and safe while learning how your muscles respond to the firm rubber surface.

Maintaining the tool is exceptionally simple due to its smooth, non-stick rubber design. You can easily wipe the surface clean using warm water and mild soap after your sessions. This quick upkeep keeps it completely hygienic and ready for your next recovery or fitness routine.

While it can help ease muscle tension, you should always consult our practitioners first. We modify the positioning to avoid vulnerable areas and ensure complete safety for you and your baby. We prioritize gentle, supported techniques that specifically focus on upper back and foot comfort.

Solid rubber provides distinct density and grip that standard foam tools cannot match. Foam rollers often compress too much under your weight, reducing effectiveness. The high-density rubber retains its exact shape, allowing for pinpoint accuracy when addressing deep, stubborn trigger points within larger muscle groups.
